About This Opportunity
Join us as a visionary leader in science programming! In this dynamic role, you will steer our team’s activities, cultivate robust client relationships, and chart strategic goals that drive our mission forward. You’ll collaborate closely with our internal Leading Educator teams, ensuring seamless efforts and exceptional outcomes.
As the guiding force, you’ll supervise the dedicated work of team members, including an Associate Director and potentially additional directors, to deliver top-tier science programming that perfectly aligns with our organizational objectives. Your leadership will be pivotal in enhancing program and operational effectiveness through smart budget and staffing decisions, as well as managing vital communications related to grant awards and contracts.
Furthermore, you’ll be the champion of our ambitious expansion into science-specific endeavors. By fostering proactive internal and external communications, you’ll play a key role in shaping and codifying LE’s approach to science content, setting a clear and consistent framework for our future initiatives.

- Bring Your Decade of Expertise: We’re looking for someone with over 10 years of stellar experience in the field.
- Content Expert: Deep science content knowledge aligned to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
- Proven Leadership: Lead and motivate teams to reach ambitious programmatic and operational milestones.
- People Management: Effective people leadership and management skills, including coaching and developing new and emerging skill sets.
- Design and Execute: Some design expertise to support effective management and coaching of director(s)
- Client Success: Demonstrated success as a client manager.
- Strategic Innovator: Ability to leverage experience and knowledge to operationalize LE’s science strategy
- Nice to Have:
- Expansive network within the K-12 science and STEM fields.
- Experience managing multiple programs simultaneously
- Experience teaching with NGSS
Travel Requirements
This is a remote position that requires travel:
- In-person cohort programming 3-4 times a year (2-3 days per trip)
- In-person client meeting and/or site visits up to 8 times a year (1-2 days per trip)
- Attending science or funder convenings 2-3 times per year (2-3 days per trip)
- National travel for org retreats, programming, job related travel or professional development
- Outside of the above mentioned travel, this person will work from a home office that must be located anywhere within the U.S.

Benefits
Compensation: The compensation range for this position is between $102,642, with a midpoint of $133,434, and a maximum of $164,226 annually. Candidates, either newly hired or new to the role, can typically expect a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications and internal equity.
Benefits: 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees. Additional premium costs are covered 60% by Leading Educators for partners and dependents on medical, dental, and vision plans. 4% matching 401k plan, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare and commuter expenses, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Benefits are valued at or above $9,000 for employees.
Time Off
- First three years of employment, full time staff accrue 22 days a year.
- Five additional days are accrued after the third and sixth year of employment.
- Leading Educators also offer 16 additional paid days off for various holidays, including three floating holidays staff may use at their discretion.
