Senior Accountant @ Geoid Technologies Ltd
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Geoid Technologies Ltd, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. The Accountant will play a key role in budget management, cost tracking, payroll processing, and financial audits.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure proper documentation for audits and statutory compliance.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights on company performance to aid in strategic decision-making.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist the CEO in preparing and managing budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis reports.
- Monitor and control budget allocations, ensuring expenditures are within approved limits.
Tax & Statutory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, and other statutory deductions.
- Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, income tax) and ensure timely payment of taxes to relevant authorities.
- Liaise with external auditors and provide necessary documentation and explanations during audits.
Payroll Management:
- Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accurate calculations of salaries, bonuses, overtime, and statutory deductions.
- Maintain up-to-date employee records concerning payroll and statutory deductions.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Ensure timely payments to suppliers and contractors and follow up on overdue invoices from clients.
- Reconcile company bank statements and ensure accurate and timely bank transactions.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor and manage cash flows to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations and future expenses.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
Internal Controls:
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Conduct regular reviews of internal controls to identify areas of improvement and mitigate financial risks.
Inventory & Asset Management:
- Track and manage the company’s assets and inventory including stock, ensuring accurate records and reporting.
- Maintain accurate records of the company’s fixed assets and ensure proper accounting for depreciation.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure accurate inventory accounting.
Financial Audits:
- Assist in the coordination of annual financial audits and liaise with external auditors.
- Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor queries, and implement recommendations.
Financial Systems & Software:
- Manage and maintain the company’s financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks or other accounting software).
- Recommend improvements to the financial system to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (CPA K), ACCA is required.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience in a similar role.
- Experience in a technology, geospatial, or service-oriented company is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards (IFRS).
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
- Previous experience in an Audit company is an added advantage.

Working Conditions:
- Full-time, based at the Geoid Technologies office in Nairobi.
