Our Mission:
At Surge Africa, we’re on a mission to transform Intra-Africa payments for micro-entrepreneurs and MSMEs who have a need to make payments within Africa. Currently individuals and businesses have a hard time making payments within Africa. Most of these happen through banks and informal channels. Many times there is no way to send because in order to convert from one African currency to another you need dollars, that one thing we always seem to lack. Many times, these business owners have to carry a plastic bag full of cash and travel across the border to make payments.
We’re solving this by building financial services that just work: no fees and instantly available to the beneficiary. In Africa, where banking channels don’t always work, you can still send money through the Surge Africa mobile app. We are launching our mobile app in Kenya and Uganda, to start with, and Rwanda, Zambia and Tanzania before the end of 2024.
Our goal is to integrate the whole continent into one seamless payment ecosystem so that every individual and business gets the ability to make instant payments across anywhere in Africa 24/7 (cheaper, faster and always available). And, that’s where you come in.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Sales Executive to join our team and play a critical role in the onboarding of traders (importers and exporters of goods and services) and promoting the Surge Africa mobile app. The Sales Executive will be responsible for engaging with potential users, driving app downloads, and ensuring the seamless adoption of our payment services in East Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
● Identify and Onboard Traders
● Develop and execute strategies to identify and engage with traders and business owners in Kenya and Uganda.
● Conduct face-to-face meetings, presentations, and demonstrations to showcase the benefits of the Surge Africa mobile app.
● Drive App Downloads and Usage
● Encourage traders and individuals to download the Surge Africa mobile app and use it for their transactions.
● Provide guidance and support to new users to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
● Establish and maintain strong relationships with traders, business owners, and other potential users.
● Act as the main point of contact for users, addressing their queries and concerns promptly.
● Conduct market research to understand the needs and preferences of traders and individuals in the target markets.
● Gather feedback from users to help improve the app and tailor marketing strategies.
● Meet and exceed monthly sales and onboarding targets with quality.
● Track and report on sales performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
● Proven experience in sales, business development, or a related role, preferably within the fintech or payments industry.
● Strong understanding of the East African market, particularly Kenya and Uganda.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse stakeholders.
● Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
● Proficiency in using mobile applications and digital tools.
● Fluency in English, Kiswahili & Luganda; knowledge of other local languages is a plus.
