We strive to bridge the gap between communities and policymakers by leveraging our network of young and middle-aged professionals supported by experienced senior consultants with post-conflict environment expertise. We offer an in-depth knowledge of the Somali community level. Our expertise spans multiple sectors: livelihood, economic assessments, social protection, cash transfers, disaster management, gender, water sector development, transitional justice, supply chain, and humanitarian responses.

RAAGSAN works in fragile and conflict-affected states to develop and strengthen policies and systems that enhance public service delivery. Our operations have served a wide range of international and national clients, including the Government, GEEL Somalia/Somaliland Program, SSF through GIST, UNDP through the government, IGAD, IOM, SOS, WFP, GIZ, NRC, RVI, UNICEF through the government, Save the Children, Local NGOs, and other international Companies. RAAGSAN has primary offices in Mogadishu and Hargeisa, and a physical presence in Puntland and Southwest state with a network of local field researchers across Somalia/Somaliland.

RAAGSAN has conducted research in more than 30 districts and has a pool of 200+ highly qualified local field researchers that could be rapidly deployed as a team of professionals who are trained to conduct research and data collection in the field, typically at the community or local level. The RAAGSAN team was part of several evaluations conducted for donors across the country.

Raagsan Consulting is seeking an experienced and dynamic Research and Learning Coordinator to join our team in Nairobi. This pivotal role demands a proactive and strategic individual who will spearhead research initiatives, manage learning activities across all projects, and provide essential support for business development. The coordinator will be integral in maintaining and expanding our project impacts through meticulous research, monitoring, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

Strategic business development support

  • Collaborate effectively with the business development team to draft and finalize compelling proposals and expressions of interest.
  • Generate detailed proposals that align with the strategic goals of potential clients and funders. Project implementation and oversight

Project implementation and oversight

  • Develop clear project plans defining scope, goals, deliverables, resources, budget, and timelines. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and client expectations through collaborative stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead projects from start to finish, adhering to planned specifications across all lifecycle phases. Manage procurement, resources, and scheduling effectively.
  • Enforce strict quality controls to maintain high standards in project outputs. Ensure all deliverables meet the set quality benchmarks and stakeholder expectations.
  • Oversee budgets to ensure financial integrity. Monitor spending, adjust plans to maximize financial efficiency, and provide regular financial reports. Advanced research and information synthesis

Advanced research and information synthesis

  • Develop and implement robust research frameworks and tools, tailored to project specifics.
  • Support project leaders in creating detailed analysis plans and oversee the execution of these plans, ensuring data integrity and relevance.
  • Lead and guide external data analysts by providing them guidance on how to analyze in line with Raagsan’s Data analysis SOPs Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

  • Develop and implement effective MEL strategies to track project performance for clients.
  • Regularly assess the client’s project activities against established benchmarks, objectives, and theories of change
  • Evaluate the outcomes and impact of projects to understand efficacy and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize findings from evaluations to refine project approaches and enhance future initiatives.
  • Establish systems to gather continuous feedback from stakeholders to inform ongoing project adjustments.

Production and dissemination of information products

  • Lead the creation of high-impact information products, including policy briefs, detailed reports, impact reports, and blog posts.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure effective dissemination strategies that reach and influence key stakeholders. Client engagement and relationship management

Client engagement and relationship management

  • Serve as the primary liaison for clients, fostering strong relationships and ensuring that all project deliverables meet or exceed expectations.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, team members, and partners. Update all stakeholders on project progress and challenges. Conduct regular meetings to keep everyone informed and engaged.
  • Engage with clients to gather feedback and integrate insights into project planning and execution. Operational and team leadership

Operational and team leadership

  • Regularly review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for research, project implementation, and MEL activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop research and project teams, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in research management, project implementation, and MEL.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with remote teams and thrive in a diverse environment.
  • Experience conducting large surveys and qualitative analysis using any of the following softwares SPSS, SAS, R, NViVo, Atlas Ai
  • Experience writing reports for high-level international and local clients
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a capacity to handle multiple deadlines and high-stress situations.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Strictly based in Nairobi, Kenya
