Chief Executive Officer @ Nairobi Hospice
Job Purpose:
To provide strategic, passionate, and inspiring leadership at the Nairobi Hospice, ensuring the organization fulfills its mandate while fostering growth and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop, review, and implement strategic plans that align with the Hospice’s mandate, organizational policies, and national guidelines.
Establish and oversee organizational structures, operating systems, and processes to ensure efficient resource management, effective service delivery, and timely reporting to the Board and stakeholders.
Guide departmental heads in creating annual work plans and targets aligned with the overall strategy, and monitor their performance and deliverables.
Ensure financial sustainability through long-term planning, implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, and building relationships with financiers, donors and government agencies
Develop and nurture partnerships across public and private sectors to influence national policies, enhancing service delivery and stakeholder impact.
Lead the development of a communication strategy that reinforces the Hospice’s brand and ethos, positioning it as a leader in Palliative Care.
Oversee new initiatives, including their identification, cost-benefit analysis, resourcing, and execution.
Serve as an ex-officio member and secretary at Board meetings, ensuring Board decisions are effectively communicated to staff and stakeholders.
Effectively manage staff recruitment & Induction, training, performance management, and motivation.
Ensure adherence to organizational policies, high standards of internal controls, and regulatory compliance, including Health and Safety standards.
Stay informed on developments in Palliative Care, pursue professional growth opportunities, and participate in educational activities.
Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements including Health and Safety standards.
Expected Qualifications and Requirements:
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
A degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Health Care Sciences.
A Diploma in Palliative Care is an added advantage.
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of working experience, including at least 3 years in senior management, preferably in palliative or home-based care.
Technical Competencies:
Proven experience in strategy development and implementation.
Demonstrable passion for Palliative Care and social work.
Knowledge of operational systems development and implementation.
Familiarity with current trends and developments in Palliative Care.
Proficiency in interpreting financial reports.
Strong administrative skills.
General Competencies:
Experience in organizational turnaround is highly desirable.
Strong leadership skills with a record of managing high-performing teams.
Excellent communication skills, with experience in brand building, promotions, or public relations being an advantage.
Strong interpersonal skills for relationship building, maintenance, and networking.
