PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT OFFICER – UN Environment Programme

  • evaluation of water-related programmes and projects, including monitoring progress, analyzing reports, and identifying corrective actions.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders and tracking follow-up actions.

Research, Policy, and Analysis

  • Conducting research and analyzing freshwater ecosystems, including their conservation, restoration, and sustainable management.
  • Assisting in policy development, including trend analysis, preparation of evaluations, and research activities.
  • Undertaking survey initiatives, designing data collection tools, analyzing responses, and formulating conclusions.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Preparing various written outputs, including background papers, policy analyses, reports, and contributions to publications.
  • Supporting consultative meetings and conferences, including agenda setting, participant coordination, and document preparation.
  • Drafting fundraising proposals and donor reports.

Capacity Building & Outreach

  • Conducting outreach activities, including training workshops, seminars, and presentations.
  • Participating in or leading field missions, including providing guidance to external consultants, government officials, and other stakeholders.

Budget & Resource Mobilization

  • Coordinating activities related to programme/project budget and funding, including project proposals, progress reports, and financial statements.
  • Preparing key budget-related documents, such as pledging proposals, work programmes, and programme budgets.

Data Analytics & Visualization

  • Collecting and analyzing data to identify trends or patterns, using data visualization methods (graphs, charts, tables, reports) to support data-driven decision-making.

Other Responsibilities

  • Performing additional duties as required.

Eligibility Criteria & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in water resources management, conservation, environmental management, or related fields.
  • Experience in designing large-scale programmes and project management is required.
  • Experience in providing technical support to countries on topics such as integrated water resources management, sustainable land management, water-energy-food-ecosystems nexus, and nature-based solutions is desirable.
  • Experience in fundraising proposal writing and report drafting is desirable.
  • Experience working with stakeholders, the UN system, or international organizations on water resources management is desirable.
  • At least 2 years of experience in data analytics or related fields is desirable.

Languages

  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding) is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
