Introduction

Development Gateway (DG), an IREX Venture, is seeking a motivated Kenya Country Lead (Consultant) for the Soil Nutrition Roadmap (SNR) program. As part of DG, you’ll contribute to a global mission that has supported over 70 countries for more than 20 years, using data ecosystems and innovative digital tools to strengthen decision-making, transparency, and service delivery. Key Responsibilities
1. Stakeholder Relationship Management (30%)
- Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Agriculture, civil society organizations, academia, and private sector partners.
- Coordinate with government ministries and other stakeholders to promote program engagement and alignment with national priorities.
- Provide strategic advice on political nuances and cultural contexts in Kenya, ensuring program objectives are locally relevant.
- Organize and participate in meetings to gather critical data and feedback to refine program strategies.
2. Project Management and Implementation (40%)
- Serve as the primary contact for in-country project activities, ensuring successful execution of the Soil Nutrition Roadmap initiative in Kenya.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager and Country Lead Oversight to assess country priorities, gather data, and design actionable strategies.
- Manage administrative tasks such as organizing workshops, scheduling meetings, and preparing reports, including partner meeting minutes and back-to-office documentation.
- Develop and maintain an engagement tracker to monitor project activities, outcomes, and lessons learned.
- Lead efforts to identify best practices and refine engagement strategies for broader application across the program.
3. Data Analysis (30%)
- Coordinate data collection activities, ensuring alignment with program goals and maintaining data quality.
- Assist the Data Scientist in sourcing and analyzing data to support project deliverables.
- Review data sources and collaborate on creating impactful visualizations and analysis reports.
- Support evaluations and surveys to measure data use and program impact, working closely with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 6+ years of experience in project implementation, technology development, or data for international development, ideally within the agricultural sector.
- Proven experience working with governments, NGOs, or other stakeholders in Kenya.
- Proficiency in data analysis and the use of data for decision-making.
- Strong communication and client relationship management skills, especially in a global context.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Established networks within the agriculture, fertilizer, or agronomy sectors.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a commitment to process improvement.
- Proficiency in working with spreadsheets, databases, and basic data visualization tools.
- Experience synthesizing policy, data, and technology within non-profit settings.
- Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.
