BOMA’s mission is to provide the people and governments of Africa’s drylands with economic inclusion programs that increase resilience to multiple crises. Founded 15 years ago to eliminate extreme poverty among pastoralist women in Kenya, BOMA has since transformed the lives of more than 704,352 women, youth and refugees in the drylands of Africa. BOMA stands out for its focus on last mile populations of the drylands of Africa, who are most at risk to shocks from climate change and COVID-19, tech savvy and data driven approach, impressive graduation rate and 99% local structure based in Africa.

Responsibilities

2.JOB SUMMARY 

The BOMA Project is seeking a part time enumerator to assist with data collection for the various projects implemented in the mentioned counties. We are also building our database to ensure we have suitable candidates available when emerging needs arise. Hence suitable candidates will be contacted on a need basis from the database.

3.Tasks and Responsibilities

3.1 Implement Collecting required data from only the identified household member using approved tools

3.2 Conducting interviews and surveys among identified households/respondents and taking records in electronic devices.

3.3 Accurate Recording of GPS and all observations relating to the survey in question

3.4 Administering the informed consent to the respondents.

3.5 Translating the survey content from English into the local Language.

3.6 Double-checking and synchronizing all collected data on a daily basis.

3.7 Promoting teamwork relating to roles and responsibilities in the organization.

3.8 Maintaining privacy and confidentiality.

3.9 Provide verbal and written activity progress reports on process and challenges.

3.10       Responding to any clarifications relating to surveys.

3.11       Ensure safety of all data collection equipment and machinery.

4.Safeguarding

4.1 Continuously sensitize program participants on safeguarding.

4.2 Ensure compliance with BOMA’s safeguarding policies.

4.3 Report any incident of breach of safeguarding in program operations for appropriate action/follow up.

Requirements

5.Core Competencies

5.1 Flexibility to various schedules.

5.2 Adaptability to changing work demands.

5.3 Ability to accurately operate mobile data collection technology.

5.4 Demonstrate ability to communicate key concepts to people with less than Level 5 education.

5.5 Ability to cover wide terrain and extensive movements within rural settings.

5.6 Ability to speak local language of the targeted location.

6.Preferred Qualification

6.1 Minimum of Diploma in any discipline with prior experience/exposure in research disciplines and data collection.

6.2 Good understanding of the elements of data quality.

6.3 Prior experience in data collection using electronic mobile devices would be an added advantage

6.4 Be a native and resident of the locations listed above.
