We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Learning and Development Manager to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and evaluating innovative learning and development initiatives for our client-facing and business services professionals.
The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for managing the A&K and its affiliate’s learning program to inculcate a learning culture and ensure that the staff is trained through internal and external training programs.
The role will support A&K and its affiliates and report to the Head of Knowledge Management.
Roles and Responsibilities
In more detail, the core areas of responsibility include:
• Designing and delivering cutting-edge learning programs that equip our people with the skills and knowledge to excel at every stage of their careers.
• Working closely with the leadership to foster a culture of continuous improvement through learning whilst focussing on performance outcomes.
• Working closely with the Partners, Heads of Departments and the People & Culture department to identify learning and development needs and priorities and thereafter design, develop and implement a learning and development framework.
• Work closely with the wider African Legal Network (ALN) to disseminate training and share best practice across our alliance of law firms in Africa.
• Staying abreast of global legal industry learning and development trends and incorporating innovative learning approaches to trainings.
• Utilizing data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of learning programs and ensure a strong return on the L&D investment.
• Working closely with the ALN Academy for relevant trainings and knowledge management initiatives as required from time to time. ALN Academy is a charity affiliated to A&K, established to promote the rule of law in Africa by providing capacity building and quality legal training for governments, private practitioners and students.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and self-improvement by promoting and facilitating internal and external learning opportunities.
Experience and personal qualities
This role will require an experienced learning and development professional with the highest levels of commitment. Our ideal candidate is a dedicated hard worker looking to join an experienced team supporting a multi-disciplinary organisation with extended geographical reach.
The following experience is preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Law, or a related field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a dynamic learning and development department preferably within a dynamic professional services environment or consulting firm.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training delivery techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative and engaging learning solutions.

The role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya with potential to travel within our regional offices.
