Investment Manager, Agro/Food Africa

and play a key role in expanding our portfolio of debt investments in the agriculture and food sectors across Africa. This role offers the chance to directly impact our strategic growth and make a tangible difference in the region. This role is located in Nairobi, Kenya. The role is permanent and will report to Debt Director Africa.

Your Role

As an Agro/Food Investment Manager, you will:

  • Identify and secure investment opportunities that meet our fund’s criteria.
  • Negotiate term sheets and forge robust relationships with potential partners.
  • Perform detailed field due diligences with a focus on financial and impact-driven themes.
  • Craft and present detailed investment proposals to our Investment Committees.
  • Keep a close watch on investments and stay up-to-date with market developments.
  • Remain informed about the economic, financial, and political landscapes in your focus areas.

Your Profile

We are seeking candidates with an advanced degree in finance or economics and minimum of 5 years of finance experience, ideally with a strong interest and proven experience in the agro/food sector. We appreciate candidates who are passionate about agriculture and agrofinance and who approach their work with an entrepreneurial, proactive, and result-oriented mindset. Strong analytical skills, a hands-on attitude, and the ability to perform well under stress are essential. Excellent English communication skills are a must, and knowledge of French would be a beneficial addition.

This role requires a commitment to present complex investment opportunities to sophisticated professional counterparts. Familiarity with the African market contexts is crucial for success in this role. This role demands a high degree of flexibility and readiness to travel frequently (at least 30% of the time). Applicants should already possess a valid work permit for Kenya to be considered for this position.
