The client provides knowledge, strategy, and implementation services to organizations collaborating to build a better Africa. They engage development initiatives from an African perspective, bringing local context and grounded expertise to bear on complex issues and emerging challenges. They are headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and work in-person and remotely with regional and global clients.
What we are looking for
The clients managers provide hands-on guidance to teams in structured problem solving and deliverable production, and work closely with mid-senior level clients and stakeholders in communicating and implementing recommendations. Managers are primarily responsible for project development and delivery and contribute significantly to building client relationships and supporting consulting teams’ professional development. Our teams work across several issue areas and knowledge domains, requiring a high degree of creativity, adaptability, and responsiveness. The ideal candidate combines a solid consulting toolkit with demonstrated leadership in a specific issue area such as public health systems, climate resilience and adaptation, or economic opportunity for youth.
What does the job involve?
- Project Delivery: Planning, execution, and delivery of client engagements within agreed budget, timelines, and quality standards, with a focus on leading collaborative problem solving. Primary responsibility for leading client meetings and facilitating workshops.
- Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining relationships with senior leaders in client and partner organisations, often functioning as the primary liaison between organisations.
- Business Development: Pursuing new opportunities, conducting client pitches, and identifying and developing additional projects with existing clients
- Team Leadership: Delegating and supervising tasks across projects and workstreams, coaching and mentoring junior team members
- Training and development: Supporting facilitation of training sessions, conducting performance reviews, and facilitating professional development of junior team members, including helping to maintain an up-to-date library of skill-building and sector trends resources.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in business or public administration, engineering, economics, or a related field. An MBA will be considered as an advantage.
- A minimum of four years’ experience at a leading management consultancy firm, with at least two years of progressive responsibility for supervising and growing diverse teams
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with an ability to identify new strategic partnership and/or client opportunities
- Sensitivity to varied political and cultural environments, experience living and working in different countries will be an added advantage
- Excellent writing and communication skills and experience presenting complex information in a variety of formats and styles for different audiences.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative analytical methods. Thematic knowledge of education and employment issues and trends in sectors such as health, climate and agriculture across Africa will be an added advantage
