1. NURSE TUTOR (2 Positions)DEPARTMENT: NursingREPORTING TO: Head of Department (HOD), NursingJOB PURPOSE:
The Nurse Tutor is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom instruction, practical skills training, and clinical supervision to nursing students. The role ensures that students acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and professional competencies to excel in their nursing careers.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Teaching & Academic Support
- Conduct classroom and practical instruction in Nursing, ensuring effective learning experiences.
- Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and course outlines in line with the approved curriculum.
- Prepare teaching materials, demonstrations, and skills lab simulations to enhance student learning.
- Supervise clinical placements to ensure students gain practical experience in healthcare settings.
- Set, moderate, and mark examinations, assignments, and continuous assessments.
- Participate in curriculum development, review, and improvement to align with industry standards.
- Guide and mentor students on research projects, case studies, and clinical practice assessments.
- Ensure students achieve competency-based learning outcomes in accordance with TVET CDACC and Nursing Council requirements.
2. Clinical Instruction & Student Supervision
- Conduct practical demonstrations and hands-on training in essential nursing procedures.
- Assess student performance, skills proficiency, and professional conduct during clinical rotations.
- Support students in developing patient care plans, administering treatments, and maintaining medical records.
- Act as a liaison between the college and training hospitals, ensuring smooth coordination of clinical placements.
- Participate in TVET CDACC assessments and other competency-based evaluation programs.
3. Student Guidance & Mentorship
- Act as a mentor and advisor, providing professional guidance to students.
- Support students in developing strong ethical and professional behavior in nursing practice.
- Address student concerns related to academic progress, clinical training, and career development.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Nursing License.
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in a recognized nursing institution.
- A Diploma in Medical Education is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in curriculum development and assessment methods.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including hospital shifts and clinical rounds.
- May be required to travel to affiliated hospitals for student supervision.
- Should be prepared to engage in continuous professional development (CPD) and research.
