Job description
Purpose
Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing entire IT asset lifecycle, including hardware, software, and other digital devices, by tracking their acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and eventual retirement. Ensuring optimal utilization, cost efficiency, and compliance with company policies throughout their lifespan; essentially, the role is to maximize the value of an organization’s IT assets while minimizing risks and costs, management of stock levels in CCI Kenya.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining a comprehensive record of all IT assets, including details like serial numbers, purchase dates and status.
- Planning for asset procurement, deployment, upgrades, maintenance, and disposal based on their lifecycle.
- Tracking and managing software licenses to ensure compliance and avoid potential legal issues.
- Analyzing asset usage to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Identifying potential security risks associated with IT assets and implementing preventative measures.
- Ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations regarding IT asset management.
- Providing insights into asset utilization and performance through data analysis and reporting to stakeholder.
- To ensure all CCI Policies and Procedures around IT Asset Management are properly adhered to by all staff.
- Provide daily direction and communication to team on performance through regular team connects.
- Coach direct reports on workforce issues.
- Manage IT hardware asset portfolio with respect to risk, cost control, governance, compliance, and performance objectives.
- Serve as IT hardware asset management subject matter expert.
- Plan and implement IT hardware asset life cycle strategy; advise Procurement and IT Operations in procurement strategies for IT hardware acquisition.
- Develop and maintain company policies and processes.
- Manage a team of IT Asset Controller, Team Leads and IT assets Clerks.
- Refers issues not covered by procedures or prior experience to the line manager.
- May refer to regulatory requirements, service level agreements and company procedures prior to referring the matter to the line manager.
Skills and Competencies:
- High level of written and verbal communication skills is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of strategy execution and translating it into actionable decisions.
- Ability to evaluate risks and rewards, balancing compliance with opportunities.
- Strong planning skills to convert long-term goals into short-term deliverables.
Experience, knowledge and qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred with at least 5 years supervisory/management experience in Assets Management/ Warehouse Management/ Stores Management Assets or Inventory management
- Knowledge on the principles and practice of IT Assets lifecycle management.
- Experience in methods & techniques for installation, administration, monitoring, upgrading and problem resolution of central application software systems.
- Knowledge and experience in basic budgeting, contracting, purchasing practices, policies, and procedures.
