Job Summary
A Physician Assistant is an advanced practice health practitioner who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills and experience necessary to provide expert care under their of scope of practice. They will be guided and follow the policies, rules and regulations, requirement of supervision under CA statute, and bylaws of the UCSF Health, some Nursing, Medical Staff, and any unique policies related to the provision of patient services. In California, a physician assistant (PA) can practice, bill, and provide independent health care services in accordance with the practice agreement designating the supervising physician and level of supervision.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

License/Certification
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position
- Must hold current national board certification by first day of work and maintain
- Must hold an active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Must have completed an AAPA recognized graduate master’s degree program as a physician assistant.
- Must hold current AHA BLS
- Must hold an active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA)minimum requirement.
