Introduction

The Ministry of Health (MoH), through the National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP), is recruiting specialized human resources for the Kenya Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (KENPHIA) II. This crucial project, funded by the Presidential Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), aims to estimate HIV-related health indicators and characterize HIV risk behaviors across Kenya.

Through this initiative, qualified professionals will play a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s healthcare response to HIV/AIDS. Open Positions and Requirements

  1. KENPHIA II Interviewers (150 Posts)
    Role Summary: Serve as the primary point of contact for survey participants. Conduct household interviews, gather data, and ensure accurate documentation.
  2. KENPHIA II Home-Based Testing Service Counselors (125 Posts)
    Role Summary: Deliver in-home HIV testing and counseling, providing support to participants and adhering to confidentiality protocols.
  3. KENPHIA II Field Medical Laboratory Technologists (110 Posts)
    Role Summary: Conduct field-based laboratory assessments and handle samples following stringent quality and safety standards.
  4. KENPHIA II Satellite Medical Laboratory Technologists (42 Posts)
    Role Summary: Work at designated satellite labs to process samples, maintain lab equipment, and ensure timely data reporting.
  5. KENPHIA II Central Medical Laboratory Technologists (5 Posts)
    Role Summary: Oversee central laboratory operations, manage advanced equipment, and coordinate data integration for survey analysis.

Key Responsibilities

For All Roles

  1. Data Collection and Reporting:
    • Accurately collect and report HIV-related data.
    • Utilize specialized tools and technology for data input and storage.
  2. Community Interaction:
    • Engage with survey participants with sensitivity and professionalism.
    • Provide clear information on the survey’s purpose and process.
  3. Ethical Standards Compliance:
    • Adhere to MoH’s guidelines on data security and confidentiality.
    • Handle sensitive information ethically, ensuring participant privacy.

Position-Specific Responsibilities

  1. KENPHIA II Interviewers:
    • Conduct in-person interviews and record responses.
    • Ensure completeness and accuracy in all documentation.
  2. Home-Based Testing Service Counselors:
    • Provide pre-test and post-test counseling.
    • Administer HIV testing and deliver results compassionately.
  3. Field Medical Laboratory Technologists:
    • Collect blood samples and conduct point-of-care tests.
    • Follow protocols for specimen handling and storage.
  4. Satellite Medical Laboratory Technologists:
    • Process samples within satellite laboratory setups.
    • Manage lab equipment and ensure data integrity.
  5. Central Medical Laboratory Technologists:
    • Oversee laboratory processes in the central facility.
    • Coordinate with satellite labs to consolidate survey findings.
